The Surge illustrates how beautifully the good intentions of corporations pave the way to Hell

The Surge from Maximum Games and Focus Home Interactive has it all: A teaser that opens with a corporate spokesman explaining how their company is going to no only save the world but also the people- by MAKING THEM BETTER,  glitchy feedback, space, robots, a desperation that can only lead to the most dangerous kind of progress.

The Surge is reminiscent of Titanfall in the way players are expected to rely on their mech suit — though this suit is attached to the person instead of summoned from the sky gods.

Game summary from the Amazon product page:

Explore and fight in a dystopian wasteland overrun by malfunctioning machines and fearsome enemies in this hardcore sci-fi action RPG. As the Earth nears the end of its life, those who remain in the bleak, overpopulated cities must work to survive in an industrial complex plagued by a tech-enhanced workforce. You are a survivor in this world, an ordinary man who wears a powerful, industrial-grade exoskeleton that gives you protection and strength to stay alive. Meld flesh with steel to survive long enough to discover the truth about CREO, your mysterious employer. The Surge features a dynamic limb-targeting system and an original character progression system based on modular upgrades gained through tight, visceral combat.

Of note is the fact that this looks a lot like all the other space-based, first/third-person,  action RPG games currently out or coming out. That said, if you’re sick of playing Halo, Titainfall, Recore, Mass Effect, or another similar genre title, The Surge might be a good next option to pick up.

Also, an option if you’re bored with the same ‘ole space-based shooters: Shiness: The Lightning Kingdom!

In Shiness, take control of Chado and his four friends as they journey across a fractured world beset by a war between multiple factions. Combat is inspired by traditional fighting games, mixing fast-paced combos, parrying, blocking, and powerful magical abilities distinct for each character. Your party members’ usefulness isn’t limited to just combat – manipulate the environments around you with abilities such as Kayenne’s telekinesis and Askel’s far-reaching whip. Gain experience and level up after fights, while progressing in the storyline or by accomplishing numerous side quests. Evolve your characters, learn new skills and spells, and become the hero who will unify the civilizations of Mahera.
