Can’t Live Without [June ’17]

One-Punch Man

I recently crawled out from under my very cozy rock and discovered One-Punch Man. Actually, I was researching Anime Inspired Workouts on YouTube when I found a clip from One-Punch Man and decided I needed more of that in my life.

Light-hearted violence and dark humor are some of my favorite adjectives.  They’re also perfect descriptors for One-Punch Man. I could go on and explain what One-Punch Man is about but it really is self-explanatory.

Normally, being the lazy, easily distracted, C-student that I am, I avoid subtitled anime. If I wanted to read, I’d fall asleep with a book on my chest. I haven’t been able to find One-Punch Man dubbed, only subbed and lo and behold this has not deterred me. I get amped up watching (and reading) One-Punch Man on the treadmill. Hyperbole has a real way of hyping me up.

Hyperbole has a real way of hyping me up and One-Punch Man is the visual representation of hyperbole.

One-Punch Man is streaming on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, and probably other services.

Synopsis of Episode #1 of One-Punch Man from DAISUKI.net

Saitama is a guy who’s a hero for fun. After saving a child from certain death, he decided to become a hero and trained hard for three years. Though he’s now so strong he can defeat any opponent with a single punch, lately he feels as if, in exchange for overwhelming power, he’s lost something even more important.

Zombies, Run!

Every day (give or take the “every”) I walk my dog about 1 to 2 miles at a pace so leisurely it’s literally not actually exercise.

Then I remembered I have the Zombies, Run! app on my phone. I fired it back up and realized what I’d been missing out on.

I literally can’t fan-girl enough about Zombies, Run! but I can try:

  • The voice acting is superb
  • The story is enthralling
  • The app is easy to use
  • There are training modules and side quests if you have a plan or don’t want to blow through the story
  • Social aspects help those who are social or just like a bit of competition.

Thanks to Zombies, Run! I’ve gone from begrudgingly strolling every so often to

Thanks to Zombies, Run! I’ve gone from begrudgingly strolling every so often to getting excited about running daily.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel

Set in the time before Borderland’s 2 and featuring a slew of Claptrap robots with all the personality a Claptrap is known for.

Again, light-hearted violence with a heaping helping of dark comedy is bringing me bliss. In Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel your character is working for Handsome Jack instead of against him.

The majority of the game is set on the moon where bandits and roaming creatures are just waiting for bullets so they can give their lives to help your vault hunter level up.

The Moon in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is my happy place.

Cheap Workout Clothes

The Obesity epidemic facing America’s Youth is tragic and So awesome for me and my wallet!

As mentioned above, I’ve increased my weekly workouts from hypothetical to actual. This increase requires me to either do more laundry or buy more workout clothes.

Obviously, I went shopping. Specifically, I went to Target. Holy, crap their workout clothes are expensive. I plan to work my way out of them not hand them down to my grandchildren.

Aghast, I made my way to the kids’ department and was delighted to find clothes to fit my short, chubby frame!

Shirts for under five dollars, leggings for six dollars and packages of plain white t-shirts.

Missha Time Revolution First Treatment Essence

I first heard about Missha’s Time Revolution First Treatment Essence from either The Beauty Breakdown or from Snow White and the Asian Pear.

It was mentioned as a supervisor for SK II’s First Treatment Essence which is unreasonably expensive. After doing some searching I found a site that did the research and compared the two products. The author made a compelling case for the Missha First Treatment Essence.

Amazon had a good price and free shipping… The deal was done.

After about three weeks, I’ve been complimented on my skin a few times. My skin generally feels better and Missha’s Time Revolution First Treatment Essence is a super easy addition to my routine (especially on lazy days).

tavia.

My parents let me watch and read way too much science fiction and fantasy when I was a child. Now that I'm grown, I'm bored and I can't wait for SkyNet to awaken or the super-virus to cull the human population. I'll be safe because I've learned to reason with robots from Data and the Terminator franchise... and I eat gummy vitamins by the fist-full.
