Apocalyptic Video Game: ARMY OF DARKNESS DEFENSE (iOS)

Because I click almost every link I encounter[1. Yes, this has brought me to some strange places. No, I don’t get viruses; I practice safe clicking.], I discovered the most amazingly fun (and free) game on my iPod via an advertisement! A semi-side-scrolling, pseudo beat-em-up, defense game called Army of Darkness Defense. … Why yes, the game is based on the famously camp B-movies staring Bruce Campbell.

Army of Darkness Defense features characters from the Army of Darkness movie, such as Ash (including voice over quotes), Lord Arthur, and Duke Henry.

You play as Ash (and some kind of war god who controls the Smithy and makes the troops come) leading the charge of good guys defending the Necronomicon against the charge of the Deadite Army.

The games is pretty easy to understand and get into. You attack as Ash and buy supporting troops to assist you, you have special moves that take a while to charge, and every time a Deadite dies you collect the cash prize that drops to help fund your army upgrades.

The game is published by Blackflip Studios, and is FREE. Literally. It costs Zero dollars, and Zero cents. And, it was so addicting and fun that I played it for nearly three days straight[2. Making me the most anti-social panda, ever]. I needed to kill every skeleton and zombie. I needed to max out all my special moves. I beat the game, all 50 (if I remember correctly) waves, and was so excited to discover that beating the game unlocks “Endless” mode.

In “Endless” there is a constant barrage of enemies and the goal is to stay alive and collect loot.
